More efficient ethanol synthesis from dimethyl ether and syngas over the combined nano-sized ZSM-35 zeolite with CuZnAl catalyst

Converting syngas into ethanol (EtOH) is highly attractive but remains challenge. Dimethyl ether (DME) carbonylation with CO to methyl acetate (MA) on zeolite and its further hydrogenation EtOH Cu-based catalyst open a new synthesis route from syngas. In this work, nano-sized ZSM-35 (NZ35) zeolite, possessing abundant active sites porosity short diffusion path, found realize much better activity of DME MA than that the conventional (CZ35). addition, simple formic-acid-assisted solid-state method employed for preparation an auto-reduced CuZnAl (CZAargon) under argon atmosphere. The prepared CZAargon exhibits excellent catalytic conversion produced EtOH. By investigating effects different integration manners NZ35 catalyst, we find can be synthesized only when pack in dual-catalyst bed reactor. After optimizing reaction conditions combination it selectivity are stabilized at 47.0 % 45.6 respectively, 220 °C 2.5 MPa.
